ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon your approach to Kathmandu, you’ll be greeted by an amazing view of the Himalayas. At the airport, a representative from the Alpine Club of Himalaya will welcome you. In the evening, you will be served excellent authentic Nepalese cuisine, offering a delightful introduction to the country’s food and culture.
Day 2: Fly to Pokhara , trek to Ghandruk
We will take a flight to Pokhara, where the right side of the plane offers the best views of the Himalayas. Representatives from the Alpine Club of Himalaya will pick you up at the Pokhara airport. From there, we will take a 1 hour and 20-minute drive to Nayapul (New Bridge) near Birethanti and begin our trek. Starting from Birethanti, we will trek to Ghandruk, a beautiful village primarily inhabited by the Gurung community. If time permits, you can visit the Gurung Museum.
Day 3: Ghandruk to Chhomrong
We climb uphill for about an hour to Kimrungdanda, while enjoying great views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Fishtail Mountain (Machhapuchhre), and Ganggapurna. Then we take a steep descent to the Kimrong Khola. After another steep ascent from Kimrong Khola to Chere Danda, we descend for a while, and then it’s a gentle walk to Chhomrong, a beautiful village located on the lap of the giant Annapurna.
Day 4: Chhomrong to Bamboo
We will descend 2,500 stone steps and cross the bridge over the Chhomrong Khola. From here, it’s an uphill climb to Sinuwa. After Sinuwa, we will pass through a beautiful forest to reach Kuldihar, followed by an easy downhill walk to Bamboo.
Day 5: Bamboo to Deurali
We will trek through a damp and cold bamboo forest, then ascend steadily through several steep sections. Upon reaching Himalaya Hotel, the forest opens up to reveal an astounding view of the glacial river below. From here, we take a steep climb up through a much drier forest until we reach Hinku Cave. The trail then drops closer to the river before climbing again to Deurali, offering the most scenic stretch of the day. The sparser vegetation allows for magical views of the valley, the river below, and the sheer rock-face cliffs above adorned with bands of wispy waterfalls.
Day 6: Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp via Machhapuchhre Base Camp
We climb gently through a riverbed, then take a steep trail over to the mountainside. From Bagar, we embark on a somewhat strenuous hike to Machhapuchhre Base Camp. From the base camp, we are rewarded with excellent views of the majestic Machhapuchhre, along with Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharvachuli, and Gangapurna.
The vegetation becomes sparse as we continue, and the path widens as we enter the Annapurna Sanctuary. Here, we are greeted with sensational views of the near-vertical south face of Annapurna towering above us. The sanctuary offers a dynamic 360-degree panorama without any obstructions. From the base camp, we once again get to savor the mesmerizing views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, and other peaks.
Day 7: Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo
Wake up before dawn to witness the majestic sunrise, as the white snow-capped peaks are bathed in an array of colors. Enjoy the stunning views of Machhapuchhre, Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharvachuli, and Gangapurna.
After soaking in the breathtaking scenery, retrace your steps back to Bamboo. The trail will take you through lush sections of woodland and various settlements. As you progress, the landscape changes from alpine terrain to sub-tropical woodlands.
Upon reaching Bamboo, relax and rest, soaking in the views of the surrounding region.
Day 8: Bamboo to Jhinu Danda
From Bamboo, start with an uphill trek to Kuldighar, followed by a downhill walk to Chhomrong Khola. Next, climb the stone steps to Chhomrong. After reaching Chhomrong, the trail descends to Jhinu Danda, where you will be resting for the night. Here, you have the option to take a 15-20 minute walk downhill to enjoy the rejuvenating hot springs.
Day 9: Trek to Naya Pul then drive to Pokhara
We trek from Jhinu Danda to Nayapul, while enjoying the amazing hill landscape of western Nepal. From Nayapul, we drive to Pokhara. Overnight in Pokhara.
Day 10: Fly to Kathmandu
In the afternoon, we fly back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, you have the opportunity to explore more of Kathmandu, visit additional attractions, or shop for souvenirs, such as lovely pashminas and intricate artwork. In the evening, there will be a farewell dinner to celebrate the end of your journey.
Day 11: Final Departure: Home Sweet Home
