ITINERARY
Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Soti Khola
Rise early and have breakfast before embarking on a lengthy drive to Soti Khola. The journey, spanning approximately 8 hours, winds through the verdant hills of central Nepal, passing through a network of narrow roads. En route, catch glimpses of scattered settlements nestled atop hillsides and along riverbanks. Upon reaching Dhading Besi, the landscape shifts to sections of rugged off-road terrain, offering panoramic views of the surrounding vistas. After a tiring journey, you’ll arrive at Soti Khola, situated in the Dhading district.
Day 2: Trek from Soti Khola to Machha Khola
Following breakfast, begin your trek, traversing through the lush woodlands of central Nepal, alongside the upstream banks of the mighty Budhi Gandaki River. As you proceed, you’ll walk alongside the blue rapids of the river, admiring its beauty. Ascend uphill along forested trails, gaining altitude and enjoying grand views of the Himalayas and the various river networks cutting through the massive hills of the Mahabharat range. Continuing upwards, you’ll eventually arrive at Machha Khola.
Day 3: Trek to Jagat
Begin the trek by following the banks of Machha Khola. After a brief walk across the river and following the trail, you’ll reach the settlement of Khorlabesi. From there, continue towards Tatopani, a renowned village known for its natural hot water springs. Traverse through the lush canopy of the region and head towards Dovan Khola. As you progress, you’ll enter the Budhi Gandaki Valley. As the altitude increases, the dense forest begins to thin out, and you’ll find yourself trekking on high mountain grounds with patches of shrubs and scattered vegetation. Following the trail, you’ll eventually reach the settlement of Jagat.
Day 4: Trek to Deng
After breakfast, commence your trek by following the trails of the vibrant Budhi Gandaki Valley towards the tiny hamlet of Sirdibas. Along this trail, enjoy grand views of the Shringi Himal. Cross a suspension bridge, and after a steep climb, you’ll eventually reach Philim. Traversing along high cliffs with a series of waterfalls cascading down on both sides of the valley, you’ll pass through the villages of Ekle Bhatti and Pewa. Continuing along the trail, you’ll emerge from the valley and arrive at the settlement of Deng.
Day 5: Trek to Namrung
Today’s trek involves mostly uphill sections, so it may be tough and strenuous, but the breathtaking views along the way will make it worthwhile. After a steep ascent and descent, you’ll make your way towards the Budhi Gandaki River. The trail then traverses through a high valley and several settlements, offering grand views of the landscapes. Along the way, you’ll come across a series of Mani stones marking the entrance to Namrung. Upon reaching Namrung, head to your accommodation and take some time to rest. If you’re not too tired, consider embarking on a short hike to Prok village, where the views are truly breathtaking. Alternatively, take a leisurely stroll around the area and engage in friendly conversations with the locals to gain insight into their lifestyle and culture.
Day 6: Trek to Samagaun
Embark on your trek through high mountain terrain, following the path through alpine grasslands. Your journey leads you to the ancient settlement of Lho, nestled at the foothills of Ngadi Chuli (also known as Peak 29), where you’ll encounter rural and isolated communities seemingly frozen in time. After a brief walk, continue on to Samagaun. If you’re feeling up to it, consider taking a short detour to the Pungen Glacier to witness the majestic view of Mt. Manaslu.
Day 7: Trek to Samdo
Commence your journey by trekking onwards. You’ll traverse across inclined sections, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscapes. As you ascend in altitude, you’ll eventually arrive at the isolated village of Dharamshala. Following the tracks through wide pastures and crossing the Budhi Gandaki River along the way, you’ll pass by various monasteries and through Larke Bazar, a seasonal Tibetan market. Upon reaching Dharamshala, take the opportunity to explore the green fields, surrounding mountains, and Larkya Glacier. Additionally, witness the majestic sunset from the porch of your tea house.

Day 9: Trek to Bimthang via Larkya La pass
Today’s trail is tough and strenuous as it takes you to the highest point of your trek. You’ll be crossing one of the longest passes in the Himalayas of Nepal, situated at 5,106 meters, so it’s crucial to start early. Despite the altitude, the climb is non-technical. Follow the inclined trail towards the summit, marked with colorful prayer flags. From here, enjoy breathtaking views of the landscapes, including Manaslu, Himlung Himal, Ganesh Himal, Annapurna, and other mountain ranges of Tibet. After spending some time at the summit, descend steeply along rocky terrain. As you progress, you’ll come across a small ice lake before eventually reaching the settlement of Bhimthang on the other side of the pass.
Day 10: Trek to Dharapani
Today marks the final day of your trek. After breakfast, begin by following the downhill trail, where you’ll traverse large alpine pasturelands. Cross a suspension bridge over the Dudh Khola as you continue your descent. Further along the trail, the landscapes transition into lush woodlands. Follow the dense canopy of rhododendron and oak, with miles of undergrowth, until you reach Dharapani. From here, you have the option to extend your trek to include the Annapurna circuit if you wish.
